job search, be sure to select the "confidential"
option when you set up or order the CareerFolio. When
this option is selected, the CareerFolio will be assigned
a URL such as www.careerfolios.com/anonymous77.
If
privacy and confidentiality are issues, we recommend that
you follow these instructions and create a confidential
resume.

If
You Have a Word-Processed Resume
If
the resume was created in a word processor (like MS Word
or WordPerfect), you will want to save it as an plain
text file – and do some cleanup work – before
you start cutting and pasting.
How
to Create a Text File of the Resume
Set
up Account Information
Filling
out the ACCOUNT INFORMATION form is the first step in
creating your client's CareerFolio. In this section,
you will also select a password so that you (or your
client) can access and update the CareerFolio throughout
the hosting period.
Set
up Contact Information
The
information you provide in this section will be visible
on the CareerFolio. We recommend that you limit contact
information to name and email.
The
contact information can be changed later, but
the URL for the CareerFolio will be based on the information
you provide when you complete this section.
The
CareerFolio's URL (web address) will be based on the
information you provide in the "contact information"
section when you setup the CareerFolio.
The
URL cannot be changed at a later date.

If
you select the CONFIDENTIAL option when you set up the
CareerFolio, the URL (Web address) will be similar to
this:

Set-up: Section Headings
/ Categories
Select
your first resume category by choosing one from the options
provided in the SECTION HEADER bar. We have provided 75
possible categories and they can be placed in any order
you choose.

If you forget to select a category, you
will get an error message that says
"Please
select a valid section header."
If this happens, scroll down,
select a heading, then click
on SAVE

In
this section, you'll paste your resume text into specific
resume sections. To make it easier, plan your layout beforehand
– or use a printout of your paper resume as a design
guideline.
Cutting
and Pasting: Once your resume file is open, place the
file "window" next to the CareerFolio form.
When it is positioned properly, you can easily cut and
paste blocks of text into the CareerFolio form fields.
TIP:
You can always come back later and make
changes or try different layouts. CareerFolios offers
complete flexibility and unlimited updating, so you can
"experiment" to your heart's content! |
Laying
out Text Within Sections
CareerFolio
was designed to provide complete flexibility in text layout.
For example, you can use a variety layout strategies:

Block
text followed by bullets

of text

Bullets

You
can use any of these combinations at your discretion.
(Unused sections will not not cause "blank spaces"
in your CareerFolio.)
After
pasting your text into the forms, be sure to click on the
SAVE THIS SECTION
button.

In
addition, you can also add additional categories.To add
another category, click on the ADD ANOTHER SECTION button,
choose a heading from the scroll down menu, and select
the desired formatting options.

CareerFolio Revisions / Updating
Overview
With
our automated system, you can make changes and revisions
to your CareerFolio as often as you like.
To
update your CareerFolio now, login here:
Change
Your Address or eMail
Add
Additional Jobs or Education Sections
Login
to your account. Go to Step 4 (Paste in Resume Contents)
but instead of selecting a section header, select the
"continue using your last header" option. This
allows you to add a new section.

move this section up into its proper place,

If
You Need to Quit Before You're Done
Scroll
down and click on POST
MY CAREERFOLIO.
This action will save what you have done so far. When you're
ready, you can come back to finish it up, edit, or change
the design.

Cutting
and Pasting Tips
Most
Internet browsers allow you to open a text file while you're
online, so the easiest way to cut and paste is to open up
your file online – within a smaller window that you
place adjacent to the design tool – and them simply
cut and paste sections into CareerFolios' online forms.

Your
Account
The
CareerFolio "Classic" Account:
Your
URL: When
you set up the CareerFolio, you/your client are assigned
a URL (web address) based on the information provided when
the account is set-up. The CareerFolio URL is automatically
generated and cannot be changed or re-named.
Account
Number: You are assigned an account number when
the the CareerFolio is posted. You (or your client) can
use this number to login to the account and update or make
changes to the CareerFolio.
Your Password: You will select a password
when you post the CareerFolio. You (or your client) will
use this password to login to the account and make changes
to the CareerFolio. The password can be changed at any time.
Your
Privacy: Names, addresses, and e-mail addresses
are considered "private" and are not sold or

Resume
Privacy / Confidentiality: Once posted, all
data in the resume becomes public and accessible through
the World Wide Web. If your client is conducting
a confidential job search, we strongly recommend that
you revise your client's resume as described here: Confidential
